Bangles & Bikinis--Sobral Feature in the New York Post

More than halfway through July, how does one beat the New York City heat? Along with many New Yorkers, we here at Sobral USA the have tried in vain with our ice coffees, frosty tasty delights, and fashionably hip straw hats to take the edge off that summer swelter. What makes things all the more unbearable is that we work with art from one of the most beautiful and beachy places on earth, Rio de Janerio. Recently, The New York Post featured Sobral's Kandinsky Kasimir bangle ($100) was paired with a bold Diane Von Furstenburg animal-print bikini. This is such a perfect match considering Rio de Janerio is veritably the bikini capital of the world! Reading the Post one can just imagine the pleasure of lounging in a bikini and perhaps even sipping billini cocktails poolside (just can’t resist a little alliteration). Come and visit us at Sobral USA 412 Broadway in SoHo for your own bangle—and though we cannot transport you to Rio (as much as we would love to be there ourselves) we can provide you with the right summer accessories, and a blast of cool air conditioning--a nice respite from the hot SoHo sun.

Sobral Featured in July 3rd New York Post

The July 3rd issue of the New York Post features the Sobral bangles from the Kandinsky collection (medium bangle $60, and large $75). The title of the Post article is "Get Shirty!", a cute play on words based off of the phase "Get Shorty". The bangles are paired with a Tommy Hilfiger shirt dress, D&G sunglasses, and Kate Spade sandals.

Sobral Wishes You a Happy 4th Of July!

Summer is officially here! It is time for sunscreen, lobster rolls, the beach and fireworks. New Yorkers have quickly switched from singing, “Born this way!” (Lady Gaga), in celebration of last week's Pride Parade, to proudly belting “Born in the USA!”  (the classic Springsteen anthem) in celebration of the Fourth of July. Today the subway is jam-packed with people heading to the Coney Island hot-dog eating contest, or the nearest neighborhood block party, wearing flag sweaters (despite the heat), flamboyantly painted nails, or essentially anything you can think of in red, white and blue. Sobral has some fabulous, albiet more practical options, for the holiday and was recently featured in the 4th of July post for the NYC blog Sicka Than Average. The SOBRAL Naturals Diamentes Necklace ($100), is a bold red that would pop any outfit--just perfect for an outside cookout, and the Chic Shock RJ bracelet ($50) in blue is a great blue option for the holiday.

House of Rossil Trunk Show at Sobral USA's SoHo Boutique

Saturday June 25th, Sobral USA hosted the House Rossil trunk show. Guests mingled whilst shopping, sipping lemonade and Cachaca (the national drink of Brazil), and munching on homemade brownies and fresh fruit. The day was a huge success, with a large turnout, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. It was a pleasure for Sobral to collaborate with such a wonderful clothing company--the boldness of the Sobral jewelry was the perfect compliment to the House of Rossil dresses.

Sobral Featured in May's Italian Vogue

“Be Tanned!”, is a fashionable ‘call to arms’ or at least tanned ones, in the May issue of Italian Vogue. It is an invitation to embrace bold summer statements. Models are pictured beachside, styled in haute couture hair--slicked on top and teased to the max, with bright eye make up and rosy flushed cheeks to match. The suits are in vivid jewel tones, (blues, fuchsias, greens, purples and tangerines). These looks are over the top and fabulous—with a look that is halfway between a starlet in 1950’s Nice and David Bowie's 'Ziggy Stardust'. The model’s décolleté and arms are ostentatiously covered with bangles in bold colors. Featured are Sobral’s Cones necklace ($160, #2895), and bracelet ($110, #2893) that were designed in collaboration with Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld.

Art inspires, affecting the senses, emotions and intellect, but Picasso, Warhol, Monet are unobtainable for most people's purse strings. So how do we 'spend like Midas when our bank account is minus'? More Magazine’s May 2011 issue says art does not have a price point—that wardrobe is the best art investment. We can’t agree more—after all what you wear expresses who you are to the world . The Art Deco Sobral Bangle was among those for the May issue of More—a piece that adds bold artistic flair to any outfit.

The Baltimore Sun recently profiled the owner of The Elaine Gallery, Terri Hartwell Easter, pictured below donning a necklace (#3614), bracelet (#3619), and earrings (#3609) from Sobral's Kandinsky collection. In 2007, Elaine's dream of owning her own gallery became a reality, when she quit her job as the chief operating officer at a Washington Law firm, and opened shop. The Elaine Gallery is nestled in National Harbor—a quaint shopping destination spanning the Potomac River, and mere minutes from downtown Washington D.C. It is a unique place to shop, offering an eclectic mix of furniture, art, and fashion. Easter finds a synergy in each of the items she sells. TWC Sicka Than Average Event Sponsored By Sobral

May 15th Sobral was among the sponsors for the Sicka Than Average event at the Time Warner Center. The party was held in celebration of the blog’s third anniversary, as well as the conclusion of Time Warner Center’s “Fashion Blogger Forecast Initiative”, (in which Sicka Than Average was among the three featured blogs). For the occasion, Celia San Miguel, Sicka Than Average founder, wore Sobral’s Cantalago Rio-inspired bangle bracelet ($72) to add a bold pop to her minimalist flesh-toned dress. This fashionable event was hosted at the Stone Rose Lounge in the TWC, where guests swayed to the latest radio jams and perused the array of delicious appetizers, all whist enjoying a beautiful view of central park. A major highlight of the event was a raffle, whose items included a Sobral Pop Art Bangle ($50), and a pair of Sobral Chic Shock Encanto Earring($58).

Lucky Magazine's June-July 2011 Issue Features Sobral Rilma Necklace

The weather is getting hotter, and while the Memorial holiday weekend is over, the good news is that summer is officially here! For me and my girlfriends, summer is synonymous with balmy days, blue skys, and the latest issues of our fashion bibles. This month's June-July issue of one of my favorites, Lucky Magazine, is hot off the press, offering a spread on how to stay stylish, despite summer's the heat and humidity. Sun dresses and summer shifts--practical, yet ever-stylish staples--are displayed in bold colors, matching the joyful attitude of the summer season. These simple silhouettes are the perfect canvas to make a bold statement with accessories. Lucky suggests the Sobral Rilma necklace from the designer’s Naturals collection ($90) as the perfect compliment to a simple indigo shift. This hand-made necklace features seven polished black sections, made of a natural lightweight resin, and strung together on a black cord with an adjustable clasp. Add this piece to your summer wardrobe for a fresh update any number of your favorite dresses and outfits.

Music Innovator Pharrell Williams Styles Plum Magazine Cover Shoot Using Sobral Bangles

Fashion and music merged seamlessly in this month’s May-June issue of the Miami based Plum Magazine when music mogul Pharrell Williams was called in as the creative director for the magazine’s cover. The cover features actress Rachael Roberts dressed in a bright fuchsia bikini and draped in bold Sobral bangles. Each of these items was personally chosen by Pharrell. The concept for the shoot was based off the idea of pixilation. Here the pixilated-effect of the cover’s background is created by cupcakes, chosen because they are the very embodyment the “sensual, sweet, loving and fun” vibe Pharrell was aiming for. The vivid colors of the sweet treats perfectly compliment the Sobral bangles and colorful wardrobe rocked by Rachel Roberts.
